This book was recommended to me by a close friend and I’m glad that I read it. It was not the kind of

mystery novel I was expecting but I still ended up enjoying it. You meet Kya, who is known as the “marsh

girl” in this story, because she lives alone in the marsh. In the book, it switches between time periods in

different chapters as it alternates from the present, where a murder case was being investigated, to the

past, where you can see Kya’s childhood and history. Each chapter slowly unravels different parts of the

mystery, so you are really kept on your toes the whole time. There is a ton of romance in the novel as

well, as that becomes kind of an issue for Kya. My only criticism for this novel is that it kind of dragged a

little bit in the middle. Other than this, this book was a great read. It’s a book that’s full of mystery, love,

confusion, pain, and occasionally darkness. I recommend this for anyone who likes nature (Kya loves it

too!), mystery, or romance. Overall, I don’t think I would reread the book, but I am glad that I read it

once.
