Children of Blood and Bone, by Tomi Adeyemi, is a fantasy book with a gripping plot. Zélie is a

young girl living in Orïsha, a fictional country where magic exists. Zélie is a maji, a group of

outlawed people born with magic. All magic was destroyed when Zélie was just a child. For her

entire life, she has faced discrimination due to her magic. However, when runaway princess

Amari finds a magical scroll, Zélie unlocks her powers for the first time in years. Together, the

two girls and Zélie’s brother, Tzain, must embark on a journey to unlock the rest of the world’s

magic and fight back for the maji. They’re chased throughout the country by the royal military

and Amari’s brother, Prince Inan.

I honestly have no words for this book. It was so interesting and captivating, and the

story is so creative. Reading it reminded me of other novels such as The Hunger Games and

The Selection, but it was still unique. Every single character is fascinating to read about. The

romance in this book was super compelling and the enemies to lovers quality made it really fun.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a fantasy adventure that will keep

you turning the pages as quickly as you can. This book deserves a 25/5.
