In this fifth iteration of the twelve books in the Ranger’s Apprentice series, we get to see... more

Skandians! If you weren’t sure about this book at first, I bet you are now because it contains the

only other thing keeping you reading this series past the first book besides Will’s horse. I’m

joking of course: everyone knows that it's Will’s musical ability that keeps us reading! But in all

seriousness, with more intrigue than we have ever seen in a Ranger Apprentice book with... one

of our favorite rangers Will and his lifetime “friend” Alyss, this is truly an excellent read,

starting off Will’s life as a newly appointed ranger. With uncertainty in distant, snowy lands and

questionable music skills, this book will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what

became of the scrawny fifteen year old boy who climbed a tower to read a secret note. I certainly

recommend it and if you’ve made it this far in the series, I don’t really know why you’re

struggling to decide if you’ll read it or not. Just read it. But not until you’ve read the seventh

book. You always read the seventh book before the fifth. Always.
