This sequel to the first book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder, didn’t disappoint. In this book, you get introduced to new character, Scarlet Benoit, a normal girl who lived on a farm in France. You will find out more about Queen Levana’s plans, and the past of Princess Selene. The story starts out with introducing Scarlet, but then also updates you about Cinder & Captain Thorne’s situation throughout the book, alternating between the stories (which end up getting connected later on). Basically, after Cinder and Captain Throne escape from prison, instead of going to Africa, they end up going to France to search for Scarlet’s grandmother, though they are unaware her grandmother had went missing mysteriously a few weeks earlier. Meanwhile, Scarlet is determined to find her grandmother and ends up getting to know a special street fighter who goes by the name of ‘Wolf’. Wolf says he will help her find her grandmother. Together all of these characters (plus Emperor Kai & Iko!) will face more challenges as they try to stop Queen Levana and all of her malicious plans to attack/pressure Earth.
Overall, I really like this book a lot, I think I may even like it more than Cinder. The characters are just so admirable and lovable and the plot is so good! You definitely need to read this if you have read Cinder and if you haven’t read Cinder, you need to! Definitely recommend this book; I love it!
