When Holden escapes Pencey Prep, he goes around New York City hoping to find truth and solace in the streets of NYC. As Holden wanders around the city lonely like a ghost he reflects on the true meaning of life as he attempts to escape the phonies of the world.
I wasn’t a big fan of this book because I thought at times it was really hard to see where the book was going. Holden also as a character annoyed me and his interactions with other people felt oddly forced. I liked how the book was short page wise but the book dragged on and on for a lot of it. I think “The Catcher in the Rye” in the type of book that you appreciate more as your older because it really missed the mark for me as a teeanger.
