If Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid had to be described in one word–that word would be summer. The story is so captivating, and it’s one of those books where you don’t realize where the time has gone. I definitely recommend reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo first, but Malibu Rising follows the four kids of Mick Riva, a famous singer.
Every year, the Rivas throw a massive party at the eldest, Nina Riva’s, house. Even if you feel bored in the beginning, I promise this book is worth your time. The story jumps between a past and present timeline. The backstory behind Mick Riva and his family is so entertaining, especially seeing how they accumulate the wealth and status they’ve attained in the present. I give nothing but the highest praise to this book.
