Sitlali is a girl in the modern day who wants to cross the border to the US after a gang leader gets interested in her. On the other hand, Calizto is a warrior in Tenochtitlan in the 1500s fighting against the Spanish to save his country. Both want to protect themselves and least want a romantic relationship that would do nothing for them. However, when they discover that the moon conch connects them from different eras, their ideas of love change. They help each other through the troubles they go through in their own times, like when Calizto gets captured when escaping and when Sitlali gets caught by the ICE. They both want to save each other and the others around them. After learning the secrets of the moon conch, they are finally able to figure out a way to save themselves and those they love.
I thought this book was interesting and thought it talked about a topic I haven’t read many books about. I loved the love story between Sitlali and Calizto, it was written very well and you are able to connect with them as well. The topic helped me learn more about the situations of both Sitlali and Calizto and gave me a new perspective on them. I was not disappointed in anything and thought it to be very good. This is a good read for those looking to read more books about Latin heritage.
Overall, I really liked it and enjoyed reading it and thought it was a great book.
