Summary: The Scorch Trials by James Dashner is the second book in the Maze Runner series. It continues the story of Thomas and his friends, who have escaped the maze and are now faced with a new challenge: the Scorch, a desolate and dangerous landscape plagued by a deadly virus called the Flare. The group is forced to navigate through treacherous terrain and confront various obstacles, all while being pursued by a mysterious organization known as WICKED. As they struggle for survival and search for answers, they uncover shocking truths about their past and the purpose behind the trials they've endured. The book is a fast-paced and suspenseful dystopian adventure, filled with twists and revelations that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Opinion: The most compelling aspect is how right after you survive a deadly maze, you then have an entirely new obstacle. The Scorch. The stakes are higher, the dangers are real, and the mysteries deepen. Just when you thought the protagonists was home free, there is an entirely new obstacle they have to overcome. This book had a lot of emotions. I felt the character’s desperation and fear as they battled the elements, the infected Cranks, and the mysterious organization WICKED. There were some disappointments. Particularly with how irrational they are. They sometimes just go headfirst into a battle without having any strategy or plan. So there should have been more strategy in this book. I would recommend this book to you If you're into dystopian worlds, very
