K-pop Confidential is a novel written by Stephan Lee that is centered around Candace Park. Candace is a shy girl who for most of her childhood has been fitting into the role of a standard Asian upbringing with her Korean parents. She takes hard classes at school and plays an instrument. However, she secretly is obsessed with SLK, who is the biggest boyband in K-pop. She decides to audition for the same music label and is shocked when she gets accepted, and defying all odds, she manages to convince her parents to let her go. Candace’s journey to the strict and fierce trainee program is one to watch as she hones in on her talents and meets a love interest, Youngbae, which totally goes against the strict no dating policy of her label. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes K-pop or just likes reading a light hearted book.
