It’s Not Summer Without You is the second book of The Summer I Turned Pretty series and follows Belly Conklin, a 17-year-old girl. Belly’s having a bad summer, she isn’t going to Cousins Beach for the first time in her life due to the death of Susannah, someone who was a second mother to her. Belly cannot get over Conrad but believes that she has completely ruined the relationship. She believes she will never see the Fisher boys again until she gets a call from Jeremiah that Conrad is missing. This sets the characters off on a journey to find Conrad and bring him back to school before his finals.
Something different from the first book is that some chapters are from Jeremiah’s perspective which is intriguing, but I wish there were also some chapters from Conrad's perspective. My favorite parts of the book are the flashbacks to Belly and Conrad’s relationship because we see how they get together, how it falls apart, and why Belly believes she has ruined it forever. This is my favorite part because the first book set up how much Belly wanted a relationship with Conrad, so I was very invested in how it turned out for the characters.
