This book was written using three different perspectives. The first one was from a girl named Libby, who had just turned 25. This was very significant for her because this was the age that she would receive an unknown trust from her parents. The second perspective was a character named Lucy. Lucy, barely getting by, has two kids, a violin, and no permanent home. The final perspective was a boy named Henry Lamb. Contrary to the first two perspectives, Henry narrates the story in the past (1980s). Libby and Lucy are dealing with the present. The story connection between the three of them is the mystery behind Libby’s birth along with the death of her parents. The book tells the story of the Lamb family, and how strangers that entered their house turned their story into a dark, gripping psychological thriller. I really enjoyed this book because it was not your average murder tale. Lisa Jewell’s use of three different perspectives enhanced the reading experience of the book. I was curious throughout the journey of this story, wondering when all three characters’ stories would intertwine. I would give this book a 5/5 rating.
