The Maze Runner film is a movie adaptation of the dystopian novel by James Dashner. The plot of this film follows a boy named Thomas, who finds himself transported to a place called the Glade, a small area surrounded by tall walls and filled with other boys around his age. With none of the boys having any recollection of who they are and why they are in the Glade, Thomas is desperate to find answers and becomes a Maze Runner, leaving the Glade through the tall walls to find some answers while trying to avoid getting killed by mysterious creatures that inhabit the maze called Grievers. I won’t say anymore of the plot of this story as the film’s suspense is one of its best aspects.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this film, mostly because I’m a sucker for dystopian stories and because the actors in it were phenomenal. Unfortunately I’ve never read The Maze Runner books but I have heard that there are a number of differences between the movies and the novels, so I would highly recommend not going into the movies expecting them to be a perfect adaptation of the book series. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone else who appreciates dystopian fiction, as I think this series maintains a unique take on dystopia while also falling within that genre.
