Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros is an Adult/ young adult fantasy that’s a mix of Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, Divergent by Veronica Roth, and Wings of Fire by Tui T. These three series are also some of my favorite series, so I like this book and recommend it if you’ve read any of these series.
This book is about a 20-year-old girl named Violet Sorrengail, whose mother is in charge of the military college and whose sister has a high position in the outposts. This means they’re both raiders. In this book, there are three divisions of people—riders who ride on dragons and fight the war; scribes who keep track of the war, deaths, etc; and healers who heal and help riders and scribes who are hurt. Violet Sorrengial’s dream is to be top of her class as a scribe, but ever since her father, who was a scribe, died, her mother had set her mind on Violet becoming a rider. So on conscription day, Violet enters the world of Basgiath War College, where she meets new people and goes through a journey filled with surprises, violence, love, friendship, leadership, and finding herself.
This book is very hyped on social media, and it deserves all the hype because it’s honestly the best book I’ve read so far this year. It combines my love for fantasy, dystopian fiction, and romance, but it also has a great story and plotline. My friend who’s an author recommended this to me, and shes a very picky reader, but she said she liked it as well, so I think this is a great start if you’re trying to get more into any of those genres.
