Button Pusher by Tyler Page is about a boy named Tyler. Tyler is different from the other kids around him and sometimes does bizarre things that he doesn’t always remember. Tyler's home life is not that good as his parents are always fighting and his dad is really unpredictable and scary. He also spanks Tyler if he gets mad and his mom is too scared to do anything about it. At school, Tyler is always getting in trouble when working because he gets distracted very easily and he doesn’t listen to the teachers either. Tyler is very talented and likes to draw and play video games. After a while, Tyler is diagnosed with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) which is closely related to ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) he starts to take medication. The people around Tyler start to notice a difference and things seem to get better. Until Tyler finds something that has been causing him pain all these years.
I think that this book was well written even though it was a graphic novel (which I know isn’t everyone's cup of tea). It was informative and I loved how the other drew his pictures to show Tyler's emotions very clearly. He also made these blue pages with more information about ADD and ADHD. This is a good book for people of all ages as it is a graphic novel that is a pretty quick and easy read. This book was very enlightening and had lots of sad chapters. It was also funny in some parts. I would recommend this book to others because it is an extremely informative and educational book.
*This book talks about physical abuse as well as mental health disorders.
