The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is a story set in 1939 Germany, around the time Nazis begin to take control. With Death as the narrator, we see how Liesel's life is about to change. As Liesel says goodbye to her dead brother, she picks up a single object, partially hidden in the snow. It is The Gravedigger's Handbook, left behind by accident, and it is her first act of book thievery. Here begins her interest in books and words. Follow the Book Thief in her journey. When death has a story to tell, you listen.

There wasn't a part of the book, I didn't like. However, I can see the writing style being hard to get through for some people. My one complaint was how Death, the narrator, almost spoiled much of the book. Also, I wouldn't describe this book as ‘adventurous’. It is instead used to tell a story of a girl's life living in Germany. Although this might seem boring, I promise if you like heartfelt stories, you will love this book. I adore this book, it is beautiful, sad, joyful and just so wholesome. As a person who generally reads fantasy books and doesn't like learning about history, I thought this book was very interesting and changed my initial thoughts. I highly recommend this book to anyone! Fair warning, you probably will cry at the end.
