Brooke, a single mother, gets a job as a nurse in an all male prison. One of the inmates, Shane, Brooke sent to prison many years ago. This book has a past and present timeline which creates many doubts in the reader's brain. Brooke is not supposed to share any details about her life with the inmates. But, when Shane discovers he is the father of her child, he must know more. Back at home Brooke is starting to connect with her childhood best friend, Tim, again. Although she likes him at first she starts to become suspicious of him. Brooke starts questioning who did the horrible things that night. Is Shane really the bad person Brooke thought he was? Or is it Tim who did everything to her that night?

The book starts with Shane being this bad person who Brooke sent to jail. However, we don’t know why he was put in jail and we don’t find out until a while into the book. After Shane finds out he is a father, he makes it known to Brooke that he wants a relationship with his son.  Meanwhile, Tim is really connecting with Brooke’s son and sees him as his own. However, all these strange things start happening like Tim's scent reminding Brooke of the same smell from the night when everything happened. This makes Brooke scared of Tim and she doesn’t know what to believe about that night. This confusion continues and takes the reader through plot twist after plot twist.

I loved this book! It is definitely one of my favorite Freida McFadden books I have read. It kept me engaged the whole time and was definitely a page turner. The plot twist had my jaw on the floor and had me questioning everything.
