Marin has a promising future ahead, as a top achieving student and editor of the school paper. Her goal is to attend Brown University, an achievement her English teacher, Mr. Beckett, assures her is within reach. Marin looks up to Bex, and maybe has a tiny crush on her teacher. When he takes things too far and tries to kiss Marin, she feels shocked and terrified. By the time she decides to come forward, no one believes her story. Marin questions everything she had done with Bex, had she somehow given him the wrong idea, or did she misunderstand his intentions? No matter the reason, her eyes have been opened. Using the school newspaper and a new feminist book club she founded, Marin fights to be heard.
I absolutely loved this book. Easily one of my favorites this year. The writing was good, the plot was enticing, and the foreshadowing was done very well. Marin is such a relatable character, and I could feel her frustration and anger at the world. Honestly just a gorgeous book, really shone light on things that aren’t normally talked about, and the ending was so satisfying. I rate this book an easy five out of five stars, as I just thought this was an amazing book. Highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
