Big Nate: On a Roll by Lincoln Peirce, the third book in the *Big Nate* series, follows Nate Wright as he faces a new set of challenges, all centered around his quest to win the coveted "Scouting Troop" prize of a customized skateboard. Nate is determined to beat his fellow scout, Artur, a seemingly perfect and kind-hearted kid who unintentionally gets on Nate’s nerves. As Nate tries to outshine Artur in the race for the prize, he finds himself in one hilarious predicament after another, balancing his usual school mischief, friendships, and rivalry.

Overall, I’d give this book a five out of five for its humor, engaging plot, and relatable characters. Nate’s fierce determination to beat Artur, coupled with his sarcastic and overconfident personality, creates a storyline that’s not only funny but also relatable for anyone who’s ever faced friendly competition. The dynamic between Nate and Artur is particularly amusing, as Nate’s jealousy contrasts with Artur’s genuine niceness. Nate’s escapades, from school troubles to scouting adventures, make for an enjoyable, fast-paced read that keeps you entertained throughout.

The main thing I like about this book is Nate’s endless optimism and resilience, even when things don’t go his way. His determination to win the skateboard prize, despite the odds, showcases his never-give-up attitude, which is both inspiring and comical. Big Nate: On a Roll earns a solid five out of five for its clever humor, entertaining storyline, and the way it highlights the relatable struggles of competition, friendships, and growing up. It’s a must-read for fans of the series and a great addition to Nate’s ongoing middle-school adventures.
