The Great Gatsby is a classic by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This book follows the life of Jay Gatsby through the narrator Nick Carraway. Nick has moved next to Gatsby and gets a glimpse of the glamor and complexities of the rich. Gatsby is in love with Daisy Buchanan, and readers see themes of romance, obsession, and the tensions between the rich and poor through this novel set in the roaring twenties.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Fitzgerald’s writing is absolutely wonderful; I could so easily picture characters and different settings while reading this. Fitzgerald’s sensory details were also so descriptive, allowing the reader to feel as if they were there alongside Nick Carraway. There were so many different aspects to consider when reading this novel. Fitzgerald seems to introduce symbols that reappear throughout, and the characters almost seem to embody different themes such as control, obsession, and love. My only critique is that this is a slower read, but I suppose this also enables the reader to process and follow along the novel more easily. I would definitely recommend this book.
