I really enjoyed Anatomy and would give it five out of five stars. It is an intriguing story about a young woman trying to make her mark in a male-dominated field. She is attempting to do the impossible and become a medical surgeon in what seems to be Old English society. The main character's complex home life allows her to get an education and explore a somewhat grotesque field. While she studies to become a surgeon, she also balances a complicated love life. She has to battle with societal expectations and her heart wants. She is arranged to marry her cousin, but throughout the book, she meets a gravedigger who understands her as no one has before.

The story does a good job of balancing the romance and the realness of what it takes to become a surgeon in the olden days. I enjoyed watching the main character grow in her confidence and have it bolstered by others around her, even though it might go against traditional stereotypes. This book also serves as a reminder of how far women's rights have come and how many more opportunities they have. There is a somewhat sad plot twist at the end, so be prepared to shed some tears. But overall, it was a fantastic read that I would highly recommend.
