Katy Swartz moved to West Virginia expecting a new start, but her new town is far odder than expected. Within the first few days, she meets her new neighbors, a bubbly girl named Dee and her annoying and annoyingly attractive brother Daemon. Everything should be normal in her new town and for the most part, it is but there are still small, weird things it's hard not to notice. And her new neighbors? They might be right in the middle of the strangeness.
I really enjoyed Obsidian. I would have rather not had it spoiled right in the blurb, if you haven’t seen the blurb don't read it and spoil it for yourselves too, but that’s pretty much the only complaint I have about the book. Katy is a pretty good protagonist to follow. She's bookish and not willing to deal with people’s crap even if that person is a cute guy. Daemon is interesting too. He falls into that one category of a love interest in YA fiction that can be a pretty big jerk but he’s also passionate and cares a lot about the people he’s loyal to. If you want a better look into his head, you should maybe check out this book from his point of view, Oblivion after you read this first. I think this was a pretty good read. It’s not the most original book out there but it’s also far from the least original and it was still able to keep me guessing and engaged. If any of the stuff I've mentioned previously sounds okay to you, you might like this book.
