The Truman Show is a movie that I feel deserves its hype. I was told by at least 20 people to watch this movie, and it’s just as good as everyone said it would be. The Truman Show is about Truman, a man who grew up on TV; however, he isn’t aware that his life is being filmed. Truman’s entire life has been orchestrated by producers and directors since his birth. What he thought was just his life was actually scripted plot lines created in a writer's room. Truman, however, starts to get suspicious, and you watch as he begins to lose a grip on what is his own reality.

My thoughts overall are that it was very thought-provoking. I never considered what it would be like to have your entire life filmed for the world to see. The idea of never having any privacy at any moment is terrifying, and I think that’s why this film is so compelling. The watcher can easily sympathize with Truman and root for his escape. You don’t know what will happen or what the directors will do next, and it had me on the edge of my seat. I thought Jim Carrey’s performance was magnificent as well. He has an ability to be so animated and deliver lines so earnestly, and it gave Truman a charm that felt unique to his character. He felt self-involved and naive, having only lived in a life quite literally centered around him, but he was also introspective and deeply caring for those around him. I think Carry portrays these emotions masterfully, and he really made the movie for me. I also thought that The Truman Show had some great humor. The idea that there would be real advertisements in this average man's life, and he wouldn’t notice had me cracking up. The minute they tried to promote any brand, I started to lose it because it felt so uncanny. I genuinely think that anyone who has any free time should give The Truman Show a watch it’s well known in pop culture for a reason. I would give the movie 5 out of 5 stars!
