Who Was Booker T. Washington tells the amazing story of a man who was born a slave, but grew up to be a strong and smart leader. When he was a boy, life was very hard, but he never gave up. He wanted to learn so badly that he walked miles just to go to school. He believed that getting a good education, working hard and being patient could help Black people have better lives. He started a school called Tuskegee Institute to help Black students learn important skills. It also tells how he gave big speeches and even met with U.S. presidents. Some people didn’t always agree with his ideas, but he still helped many people and changed the world.

This is a great book for kids who want to learn about American history, African American leaders and how education can change your life. The words are easy to understand, and the story is interesting. It shows how Booker T. Washington kept going, even when things were very hard. It teaches that with hard work and learning, you can face tough times and make a big difference in the world.
