Stick Dog Gets the Tacos is the 9th book of the Stick Dog book series. It starts off with Karen the Dachshund telling Stick Dog that she saw humans hitting a dog. Stick Dog became furious and told all the dogs to follow him to rescue the dog. When they arrive, they realize that the dog was a paper unicorn piñata. They notice that the humans are having a picnic, with Guacamole and Tacos. As the other four dogs decide that the Guacamole is made up of green birds mushed together, Stick Dog figures out a plan to take all the food. He decides to execute his plan when the humans are attempting to get a tennis birdie out of a tree and play a game. After the dogs eat the guacamole and tacos, they realize that the piñata has something in it too. But there is one big problem - the piñata is hanging from a tree up in the air. Will the dogs be able to reach the tree and have a dessert, or will they have to try again another day?
Tom Watson wrote a really amusing book! Like always, each dog is completely unique and has their own story, like at the beginning of the book where Karen was convinced that she had grown a few inches because they stood taller in a puddle that had dried up after a few hours. In addition, the other dogs are convinced that Stick Dog is not as smart, because "not thinking of things just comes naturally to you". I found Stick Dog's strategy in this book to be extra special and interesting to read, with lifting Karen up by a string to reach the piñata. Because of all this, I give this book a five out of five.
