Stick Cat: A Tail of Two Kitties is the 1st book of the Stick Cat book series. The book is set in an apartment in a busy city. There is one cat named Stick Cat who lives with his human, named Goose, and next to their room is a cat named Edith with her human. Stick Cat and Edith once dug a hole through their bathrooms so they could play together during the day when their humans were out. One day, they are listening to a pianist, whom they call Mr. Music, play his piano in a building adjacent to their apartment, when they hear a loud clash. They look and see a cement truck colliding with a pole, startling Mr. Music and causing the piano lid to fall on his arms, rendering him motionless. There is no one else in the room, and he is helpless. The cats take it upon themselves to rescue Mr. Music, but face steep obstacles, such as managing to get into the building across from themselves, and then managing to help Mr. Music once they get there. They develop plans, some hilarious, but will they be able to rescue the piano man before it's too late?
I loved this book! It's an interesting spinoff of the Stick Dog series, but is also unique, due to fewer characters and in a domestic setting, as well as rescuing someone rather than searching for food. There is also a connection to the other series due to a Stick Dog book mentioning the dogs meeting Stick Cat when he was a kitten. I really liked this book due to both characters being very well-developed, and Edith being a really funny cat. Because of all this, I give this book a five out of five.
