A Court of Thorns and Roses follows the path and story of Feyre, a teenager who is a hunter and the only person who can procure food for her father and two sisters. When she makes the mistake of hunting something she shouldn’t have, she faces dire consequences and is introduced to a world that she never knew existed. This world is filled with horrors she’s never seen or even thought of. After finding out about a blight hurting the people she’s come to love, she devotes herself to continuing to be a hunter and fight for the people she wishes to protect.
I was initially a bit skeptical about this one and it ended up taking me a bit to truly get immersed into the book. But I thought that it was most definitely worth it as I got sucked into the beautiful world that Maas created. I loved the depth within all of the characters, as they were all unique with interesting backstories. The way that the story is written really keeps you on your toes (especially the last the chapters). It is a bit of a slow-burn, but it’s worth it and I actually kind of liked it because of the fact that it was a slow-burn.
Overall, I’d probably recommend this to any teenagers or young adults who enjoy romance or fantasy. It does have quite a few intimate scenes, so keep that in mind when deciding whether to read this one or not. Apart from that, I love all the descriptive scenes in the book and the plot itself was mysterious and captivating. I loved this read and I’m excited to read the next one!
