Just for the Summer is a heartfelt and cute romantic comedy that combines emotions with humor. The story is about Justin and Emma, two strangers who meet on Reddit through a strange coincidence: everyone they have ever dated finds their soulmate immediately after breaking up with them. They are intrigued by their shared curse and decide to date each other for a summer, just for the experience. Emma is a traveling nurse who enjoys moving and never stays long enough to get too attached. She takes pride in being independent. Justin, however, is set in Minneapolis and is the guardian of his three younger siblings. He is responsible, encouraging and puts others before himself. Emma temporarily moves in with Justin for the summer, and what begins as fun quickly turns into something more serious. As they spend more time together, both Emma and Justin begin to rethink what they want from life.
I loved reading this book because it is full of emotions and funny romance. This book balances rom-com humor with serious emotional themes. I love how the central idea is unique and fun, but what really makes the book good is how it uses that idea to explore much deeper themes. Additionally, the book is full of tension and doesn’t speed through the romance. I also love how both Justin and Emma are funny and understand how to have fun while also being vulnerable during important moments. Overall, this is a beautiful story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance books and comedy because it is an amazing combination of the two.
