Sophie’s world is falling apart. Griffin, her longtime boyfriend, has unexpectedly dumped her, leaving her with a crushed and shattered heart. Her parents are away and her older sister’s about to have a baby, and she’s being forced to spend her winter break at her grandmother house, aka family central. Things couldn’t get any worse, could they? Except they do. By miles. Nonna’s decided to set up Sophie for . . . blind dates? Her family is betting. Sophie’s meeting interesting and fun people, and others she never wants to see again, and most importantly, connecting with her ginormous extended family again. Sophie’s heart is still in pieces, but there’s only one boy who may be able to mend it, who brings out the best in her, and it’s not one that anyone (especially not herself) expects her to fall for.
10 Blind Dates warmed my heart! Despite its seemingly explicit title, this book is definitely, in my opinion, a family read. I learned so much about the importance of family, of coming together and supporting one another during the toughest of times, and how vital it is to have a close group of people you can truly trust and rely on - for anything and everything. Just throwing it out there - my favorite character was Nonna! She was a bit like the glue of the family, holding everyone together. The diversity of the many, many characters in this book is absolutely stunning! I have come to deeply appreciate and admire the author's craft in the book. Everything was so lifelike and realistic, partially because of the family dynamic and presence that is so vivid and vital in the plot.
