Jess is a 17-year-old girl whose mother had been the first victim of the Magpie Man, an infamous serial killer. She decides to participate in a YouTube reality TV show to use her platform and try to catch the Magpie Man. This book is a mixture of realistic and unrealistic themes. The use of social media and having a show on YouTube seems realistic, but, trying to catch a serial killer doesn’t seem very realistic to me. I also don’t like how her actions weren’t planned out; they seemed rather careless to me. This is a fast-paced book, making it a quick read. Jessica goes through a journey of acceptance and closure throughout the story. The cover seems kind of bland, but, I did like how there were 14 roses, one for each victim of the Magpie Man. If you like reality shows, murder mysteries, or fiction, this book would be a good fit for you.
