The Adventures of Super Diaper Baby is a graphic novel by Dav Pilkey, and the first book of the Super Diaper Baby book series. It starts off with an evil deputy and his dog opening an underwear laundry store so they can trap Captain Underpants. When he comes, they trap him and use a machine to suck his powers out and into a juice. The dog drinks half, and the deputy is about to when they get chased by the police. As they pass by a hospital, a doctor spanks a baby out of the window on accident, and the baby lands in the drink, drinking the rest of the power juice. He then levitates back to his parents. The deputy then has an evil plan and creates a new machine that he “gifts” to the baby’s family. It is a crib, and when he wants he can take the powers from whatever is in the crib. He tries this at night, but the only thing in the crib is poop -so he transforms into poop. He then builds a giant machine to rampage across the city to try and draw the baby’s attention. Will Super Diaper Baby - and a potential unlikely ally - be able to defeat Deputy Doo-doo, or will evil prevail?
This book was really funny and was an interesting graphic novel. It is supposed to be connected to the Captain Underpants book series. I thought that it was amusing and really liked the role that the deputy’s dog played. However, there were multiple spelling errors throughout the book, and although this may be intentional, it partly distracts from the reader's understanding of the story. Due to this, I give this book a three out of five.
