All the Bright Places, written by Jennifer Niven, is a novel where Theodore Finch and Violet Markey are two teenagers who badly want to escape from their small Indiana town of Bartlett. Violet is a popular girl who is secretly dealing with survivor's remorse, and Finch is a boy obsessed with death, labeled a freak by his peers. What ways will they try to find relief in their dark lives?
I enjoyed this book and the movie attached to it. The plot was good, but the ending was quite depressing. I would rate this book 3 out of 5 stars since the book was a tough one to read because of certain subject matters. Violet wants to understand what Theodore is going through, but unfortunately, she can’t. Theodore has a realization that she will never fully be in ‘his shoes’. Many people try to consul the victim, but in most situations, the person in need just wants someone to listen to them.
