When the mistreated animals of the farm rise up against the evil humans, they try to establish a fair and just society. As they work out their rules and sayings, the leading power begins to take over slowly, until the animals that now run the farm remain as cruel as the human who once ruled over them all.
Animal Farm is a wonderful Orwell classic, and my personal favorite of his books. Despite how long ago they were written, and their sometimes very outdated sentiments, they have a good core moral, and I love this book and its portrayals of the ruling class and corruption. While this book could be viewed a hundred different ways depending on who analyzed it, I think that’s what makes it so incredible. In my opinion, this book should be mandatory reading for most high schools. It has so much to teach, and I also just really enjoy the way it is written, despite the fact it was written decades ago, and the language is dated. Still, it’s a phenomenal book that completely deserves all the praise it receives.
