Binding 13 by Chloe Walsh is a drama-written romance that almost reminds you of It Ends With Us as the book grapples with hard topics such as abuse. This book is a duel POV about rugby player Johnny Kavanagh and shy new girl Shannon Lynch. Shannon has had to move school her whole life because of how badly her bullies have treated her throughout her life. When a freak meeting between the two happens, they soon learn their connection is one that cannot be ignored as despite their age difference, they are drawn to each other.
This book is about how sometimes it takes one person to change your world view but also you can find light even in the darkest of tunnels. This book was a whirlwind. Since it follows darker topics I thought that I would have trouble reading the book, but the author does such a good way of depicting the violence of parental abuse while not going to far but also not shying away from the topic. As a reader, I did feel like this book was quite long especially because the words on the page were small but every detail was honestly like finding a new piece of the puzzle. The love in this book is so genuine and it’s almost like you can feel it radiating off the page. I loved reading this book even though it did take me a good 200 pages to be full invested but I really can’t complain much besides the length of the book. I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars, taking off that one star just because of how long it is but I would definitely recommend this book to people and I’m honestly surprised booktok hasn’t made it massively popular.
