Blade Breaker by Victoria Aveyard is the second book in the Realm Breaker series. Corayne is
learning how to wield her powerful sword while Queen Erida’s army goes all around the Ward to
capture Corayne and her allies. They closed one spindle, but there are more across the realm
waiting. Taristan and Erida work together and are more powerful than ever. What Corayne and
her allies don’t know is that something even stronger waits in the shadows and won’t hesitate to
demolish the world before anybody can act.
I did not enjoy reading this book. I read the first book in the Realm Breaker series and was very
disappointed, but thought that the second book would be better (we are talking about Victoria
Aveyard afterall. You never know what could happen). I ended up disliking the second book
even more than the first one. I did not like Corayne, who was the main character, and nothing
seemed like a surprise or plot twist in the book. We also got to see close to nothing build up
between Corayne and Andry. I forced myself to finish this book and was highly disappointed in
the ending. After reading the ending, I kind of wish that I never read the book in the first place
(yes, it was that bad). I don’t want to come off as angry or ungrateful for the book, it’s just that it
was nothing close to Victoria’s Red Queen series (the Red Queen series was bomb, you should
definitely read it). The only part I liked about this book was the assassin. I give this book a 2/5.
There are definitely better books out there and if you're yearning to read a book by Victoria
Aveyard, you should read the Red Queen series instead of the Realm Breaker series.
