Bloodwitch, the third novel of Susan Dennard’s Witchlands series, features Bloodwitch Aeduan,
whose companions include Threadwitch Iseult and the rescued Nomasti girl whom they have nicknamed
Owl. He struggles between past commitments to his father and those people and causes he has come to
care about. Safi’s story is continued as well with her carrying out her promise to Vaness, Ironwitch and
Empress of Marstock, to root out deception in her court. Merik’s and Vivia’s stories also continue in their
battles to protect their home country, with Esme the Puppeteer controlling one of their fates. This novel
was sometimes difficult to follow with the multiple perspectives and lagged in the storytelling on
occasion. However, there is still interest in seeing what happens next for these characters in the next
novel.
