In The Calculus Affair, Tintin and Captain Haddock must protect Professor Calculus from evil spies who are after his latest and greatest invention - an ultrasonic device that could change the world. The plot thickens as Tintin and Haddock realize every one of their moves is being watched by a shadowy web of espionage ready for action at any given moment. As they try to protect Professor Calculus and prevent his invention from falling into the wrong hands, they must also contend with dangerous figures who will stop at nothing to get the device. But in a world where science holds the key to power, can the trio outmaneuver those just as determined to control it?

I quite liked the fast-paced and humorous storyline of The Calculus Affair and I think it’s a hidden gem in the Tintin series. Unlike the traditional treasure hunts and exotic expeditions, I would describe this book as a Cold War-style storyline with super high stakes. The constant suspense and feeling of uncertainty around every corner keep you engaged from start to finish during this 62-page read. This is a great books and easily earns a five out of five.
