City of the Dead is an adventure novel that follows the City Spies. They are a group of young spies that take on missions that adults can’t, and in this book they take on their most complicated mission yet. It takes them from the British Museum to Berlin all the way to Cairo. And, guess what, there’s a spy amongst the spies (better known as a mole).
My favorite part of the book is the Egyptian artifacts and Egyptian mythology that is mentioned throughout the book. I would recommend this book to 6-8th graders who love adventure and learning about ancient Egypt. Also, I would recommend reading the earlier books in the City Spies Series first before this book for some background knowledge.
