Cold The Night, Fast the Wolves is a book written by Meg Long about survival. The book is about a 17-year-old named Sena who runs away with her wolf named Iska and how they encounter difficult challenges to get away from everyone else and get off the planet. I honestly thought this book was rather good. Even though I am not a huge fan of books where characters are supposed to somehow survive, I really thought this book changed my mind on that. This story had loads of detail and the author made the story so interesting that I couldn't put the book down. I thought the book had a few over-complicated elements, but otherwise, it was realistic. I enjoyed seeing the bond between Sena and Iska grow stronger, seeing that at the start of the book, Sena was deathly afraid of Iska and avoided her at all costs, to being best friends with her at the end of the book. I really enjoyed the turning point as well, where Sena is told by Kalba that he purposefully killed her mothers. I do wish that the story made it so that Professor Kaassen did not die, because I thought that he was an amazing character. My favorite character was probably Temur, because even though he was not one of the main characters in the book, I think that he was the best character out of all characters because he was one of the only people in the Ket to help Sena even though it would risk him losing his job. Overall, I will give the book a 4 out of 5 rating because although there were some parts to me that were unnecessary, the book was still a great read with all the good details that I mentioned.
