The Crown is the final book in The Selection series. It follows Princess Eadlyn through the final stages of her Selection process. Although picking a husband might sound fairly easy, for Eadlyn, it's not. She can’t date privately and she has a timeline at which the Selection must progress. This, on top of other factors, including her mother’s health, makes her feel like she isn't fit to be royal. When her father can no longer keep control of the country, it is up to Eadlyn to put her emotions behind her and do what's right for the country.
My favorite part of this book is the leadership that Eadlyn possesses. I also enjoy dreaming about being a princess and wearing fancy dresses! She is also seen as distant, but behind the shield that she wields, she cares deeply for her country and her family and craves to feel affection for someone else. I would recommend this book to 7th-8th graders who have already read the earlier books in The Selection series.
