Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid is sure to take you back in time to the 70s. This realistic-fiction novel is loosely based of real-life 70s bands, such as Fleetwood Mac. It tells the story of a 70s rock band through present day interviews from the band members. It starts out by introducing Daisy Jones, who lives in California, who comes from a wealthy family, and is a talented singer. Her parents are too busy with work to care for her, so she exposes herself to nightclubs and rock and roll starting at 14. As she gets older, Daisy writes her own songs, but her work isn’t what record dealers are looking for. Meanwhile, two late teenage brothers from Pittsburgh- Billy and Graham Dunne, want to make their debut in making music. Billy sings while Graham plays guitar, and they call themselves The Dunne Brothers. Eventually, they grow and turn into The Six after they find other members to play in their band. As The Six rises to fame, their manager knows of Daisy and wants her to join the band. With their new member, they instantly rise to fame and become known as Daisy Jones and the Six. Through personal events, the quick rise to fame, and disputes between each other, the band members face ups and downs, all while making music and performing for sold out crowds.

Daisy Jones and the Six is an incredible book and will have you thinking about it all of the time. The interview storytelling can be hard to follow, but personally I loved this style because it made the characters and story come to life. I thought most of the characters were likable which made reading the story a breeze. The show adaptation follows the book perfectly. This is a must read for anyone who loves rock music, 70s culture, or anyone looking for a fun, unique book!
