Olivia is expected to be all that her parents want her to be. A prim and proper young lady who will marry well, as the oldest daughter must, host charity events, and she must not be found with people like Washington Dwight. Olivia thinks this is her destiny, even more so when she meets a suitable husband, but will she find all that she is looking for, love? Helen, the youngest daughter, has feelings about men, far different from Olivia. Helen thinks of many men like her brothers, as she works restlessly with them in the garage, working on cars. The girls’ parents don’t approve of this, so will Helen turn her ways toward her parents, or begin to rebel even more? John, the single son of the Davenport family is trying to expand his father’s carriage company into the automobile sector, but so far, his plans aren’t making drastic changes as he had hoped. It seems that John is a very eligible bachelor, but who will he choose out of all of his options?

This was a very good historical fiction story. I had seen it on many book lists and recommended reads for myself, but it took me a while to pick it up. When I did, however, I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed this read. I would highly recommend it to a reader who typically enjoys fiction, and is looking for something to branch out, but not too far out on a limb.
