Despicable Me is a good movie. The movie starts off showing us how Gru, the protagonist, plans on stealing the moon fueled by the motivation to top the thief who stole the pyramid of Giza. With the help of his minions, this plan takes an unexpected twist when he agrees to adopt three children.
The starting premise is very interesting and leads to a very engaging story filled with character development and lots of fun moments. We see tensions rise and a lot of depth in the story, the addition of becoming a parent puts a lot of pressure on Gru and helps him become a better person. This movie also introduces the minions for the first time, and they play their roles as the comedic relief as well. A good balance was present between the story and the comedy. Overall, the movie had lots of good and heartwarming scenes with a solid plot and character development that makes it an overall good movie. The main thing I like about this movie is the villain. The villain is unique and adds a lot of charm to the movie. I give this movie a four out of five and recommend it to be watched by anyone who has not watched it yet.
