Despicable Me 2 is a perfect installment to the series and ties up to the first installment perfectly. The movie starts off with Gru continuing his job of being a parent and turning to living an honest life, but then his life takes a turn as he is hired by the anti-villain league to partner with Lucy Wilde to find the culprit who stole the research facility with dangerous contents. Gru’s transition, from being a villain to a hero, was fun to watch. We see Gru develop as a character and become a better person. The main storyline was very interesting, and the antagonist was kept a secret till the end, which added to the movie's spy theme. Most of the tense moments happen in the climax of the film, but the overall experience was very good because the story manages to keep the attention of the people watching. The minions again act as the comedic relief and contribute to the movie’s charm. My main favorite thing about this movie is the addition of the anti-villain league and Gru’s character development. Overall, this movie was even better than the original and added more elements to it. The main thing that contributed to this movie's appeal is the relationship between Gru and Lucy. This movie carried a lot of emotion and lots of twists that were expected but fun, nonetheless. Overall, I give this movie a 4.2 out of 5 and recommend it to be watched by anyone who loves the Minions or animated movies.
