Greg Heffley’s middle school is in big trouble. See, the people at Greg’s school aren’t exactly the smartest. So, when standardized testing scores for Larry Mack Middle School come out, they are abysmal scores. Because of this, funding gets cut into the school, leading to all sorts of wacky situations Greg has to deal with, like rationing school supplies, advertisements plastered everywhere across the school, renting out rooms to the police and beekeepers, and so much more, all with a school that is falling apart. When the school’s last chance to recover their standardized test scores arrives, and Greg’s school threatens to close, will Greg and his peers be able to save their school? Or will Greg end up in a middle school in Slacksville, their biggest rival, with a school in an even worse shape than Greg’s?

This book is just as funny and entertaining as the other "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" books. Greg's sarcastic take on school life and his hilarious misadventures keep readers hooked. The way he tries to dodge every effort to make him study is super relatable and adds to the humor. One thing that is different from this book compared to previous books in this series is that it's pretty obvious this is all fiction, with unbelievable occurrences in this book, whereas previous books have been a bit more realistic. This can add even more humor to the book at times, just taking a bit away from that special magic of this series.
