Imagine a young adult Groundhog Day that happens on the most romantic day of the year, valentines day. This is the reality for Emilie Hornby and this reality is turning into a nightmare for her. On the first day of no consequences, Emilie first gets yelled at by her step-mom to hurry up in the shower, next she gets into a car accident with one of her classmates named Josh, and finally, her dad tells her that they will be moving and that Emilie has to decide to stay or leave. Oh and worst of all, she finds her dreamy boyfriend kissing his ex. After trying to end the loop of repeated days, Emilie decides to just see what happens when she has fun, and maybe some sparks will fly between her and Josh. Maybe Emilie will learn to have a little bit of fun.
This was a classic Lynn Painter novel. I wouldn’t have expected anything less, after reading her book, Better Than the Movies. I thought this was a fun retelling of Groundhog Day, but I wish I had read this book closer to Valentine's day for the full effect of the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Painter, or is a fan of light YA fiction. Overall, another great story by Lynn Painter.
