Bram Stoker's Dracula is a Gothic horror masterpiece that has shaped vampire lore for over a century. The novel's interesting format, combining journal entries, letters, and newspaper articles, creates an immersive and suspenseful narrative. The novel begins with Jonathan Harker, a young English solicitor, traveling to Transylvania to help Count Dracula with a real estate transaction. Harker soon becomes a prisoner in Dracula's castle and discovers the Count's vampiric nature. Throughout the story, the author shows themes of good versus evil, the power of Christian faith, the role of women in Victorian society, and the tension between traditional superstitions and modern reality. I really enjoyed reading this book because of all the different themes it touches while also being very entertaining. While some passages may feel dated, the core story remains captivating. I love how this book has such an influence on popular culture, creating vampires as enduring figures in fiction and film. I would recommend this book to all horror fans and those interested in literary classics because it is an amazing combination of the two.
