In the novel Emma by Jane Austen, readers follow the story of a young girl named Emma who is intelligent, beautiful, but also ignorant living in England. This is a coming of age story and does an excellent job of portraying the transition from a girl to a woman, or the growth of maturity. Along with her friends Harriet and Mr. Knightley, readers witness the fun adventure and characters Emma meets as she grows up.
I really enjoyed this book because it is romance, but also because Emma is such a relatable and funny character. This book may be hard to understand because it is written in an older type of English, but it is worth it in the end. If you like Jane Austen’s other books like Pride and Prejudice, but want a more upbeat story, Emma is the right book to choose. I would also recommend this to people who want to read classics, but don’t know where to start.
