In The Fault In Our Stars by John Green, Hazel is a sixteen-year-old with lung cancer. She meets a cancer survivor around her age named Augustus (Gus) at a youth support group. They soon begin spending time together and develop a bond. As they journey through life and face the challenges that come their way, they learn more about each other and help one another continue fighting. This is a story of love, friendship and never giving up.

I thought this was a good book. Hazel and Gus were both very likable characters and I liked the character development throughout the book. I think the author does a good job of incorporating humor and love into the story along with the serious sections relating to the characters’ illnesses. It was sweet of Gus to spend his wish on taking Hazel to Amsterdam, and it was nice to see their relationship grow. It was devastating to read about Gus’s cancer returning. This book does a nice job of showing what cancer patients go through and their perspective. I would recommend this book to everyone. I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.
