“We are as the gods made us. Strong and weak, good and bad, cruel and kind, heroic and selfish. Know that if you would rule over the kingdom of men.”

Fire and Blood is the critically acclaimed prequal to the Song of Ice and Fire series. It follows the Targaryen dynasty, over the course of hundreds of years. Learn about the fascinating lives of some of the ancestors of your favorite Game of Thrones characters. It also inspired House of the Dragon and follows the Dance of Dragons in more detail.

In my opinion, Fire and Blood is by far the best of Martin’s works. More engaging than even the best book in the original series, Fire and Blood, while being much darker also has more interesting battles. Most of the scenes are briefer, which makes it easier to read. It also does a wonderful job of combatting Martin’s biggest problem within his writing, long tedious scenes and unnecessary details. The most bingeable of all his works, I finished this book in a single sitting, even though it took me a full day. Definitely worth the read, even if you’re not a fan of Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, could be read without any prior knowledge.

Such a great read, it makes me want to re-rate all of my past books as none of those are on the same level as this one. 5 out of 5 Stars.
