Mira is on her way home for the holidays, when her flight gets canceled due to a raging blizzard. Wanting to get home, she accepts an offer from an acquaintance, Harper, whom she met on the plane ride. In the car with Harper and Harper’s friends, Mira begins to feel like the other passengers are hiding secrets. Harper and Brecken seem to know each other. Brecken has an unsettling intensity and a tendency to break the law. Kayla is sleeping nearly the whole time, or is she? Then, there is Josh, the only passenger who is as paranoid as she is, but he’s ready to throw anyone under the bus. When items start going missing, Mira knows she’ll have to be vigilant, or it won’t be the icy roads that lead to her untimely demise.
Personally, this was a solid 4.5. I took a little less than two days to finish it because I was so enthralled. The book wasn’t perfect but I don’t have too many critiques. I loved how throughout the book, Mira and the audience weren’t entirely sure whether it was paranoia or something truly sinister was occurring. I felt like the ending was well-crafted enough, but it wasn’t as satisfying as I would have liked. Since it was a thriller, I would suggest reading this if you are interested in this genre or mysteries. It is best suited for high school students. Overall, I loved the book and would definitely recommend it (and already have).
